CELEBRATE HISTORY MONTH WITH MUSIC AND POETRY AT MILANG BUTTER FACTORY
Sunday May 4th 1:30pm for 2pm start
What better venue to soak in history than the Milang Butter Factory, which was established in 1893? Enjoy a relaxed afternoon listening to music, and poetry about the past, at this newly restored historic site on the shores of Lake Alexandrina.
All poets are invited to come along and read something about the ‘old days’ as you vie for a $250 prize in this first ever poetry slam in Milang. Everyone is welcome to this free event. The bar will be open, tasty food for sale, and there will be musical interludes to create a great Sunday afternoon vibe.
If you write poetry, why not enter the slam for just $10? Bring your poems themed on yesteryear, register on the day, and join in the fun. You don’t have to memorise your poems to be in the running. All styles of poetry are welcome, from rhymed verse to performance poetry. So come along and support Milang, either as a listener or a slammer, at this inaugural event. This will be the first time words instead of milk and cream are churned within these walls.
Milang and District Community Association and Friendly Street Poets are proud to present the MILANG POETRY SLAM AND MUSIC at Historic Lakeside Butter Factory, located at 22-23 Daranda Terrace, Milang.
Free to listen / $10 entry fee for poetry slammers / Guest poets: Nigel Ford & Jude Aquilina / ALL WELCOME!
