Sunday 23rd of February was a big day for the Railway Museum with the opening of the full munitions railway route. The volunteers have been working on this for the past year and a half. From 2017, we’ve been able to offer visitors short out and back trip. Now they can have a six minute trip around the western end of Milang, together with the commentary telling them all about the train and the surroundings.

The opening was started by Rebekha Sharkey MP and Alice Beale from the History Trust of South Australia; both have assisted us with grants over several years. Rebecca waved a green flag (no, she has not joined the greens) and Alice blew an antique whistle, to send the first train off.
After travelling round the loop, the train halted for Rebekha and Alice to say a few words and then our youngest volunteer, Thomas McKay, cut a ribbon and declared the route open.
In the remainder of the afternoon around one hundred and thirty people took their first ride around the completed railway.
