Clayton Bay 2025 Winter Solstice Bonfire

What an amazing night it was at Clayton Bay on the 21st June 2025 when the town celebrated the annual 2025 Winter Solstice Bonfire.
We were so lucky to have such a beautiful evening with hardly a breeze and there were hundreds of people who turned out to witness and enjoy the event.
As always, these events do not happen without the amazing work of the many people involved including the Clayton Bay Community Association, CFS and the many people who donated their time collecting wood and creating the bonfire, cooking soups and cakes, cooking BBQ sausages (about 500) on the night or helping serve…thank you EVERYONE!
Sam Mulcahy, our amazing local artist, created the very interesting effigy which was a representation of “karenia mikimotoi”, the algal bloom that’s wreaking havoc at the moment. The boat was called the p.s.cardbard (correct spelling) and was made for workshops during the Wooden Boat Festival. it looked amazing and well done Sam!! Just such a pity to see it burn away.
