The beautiful electorate of Mayo has been my home for more than 30 years. I live in the Adelaide Hills, along with my family and our dog Lulu. I am the mother of three grown up children.
I have been the independent voice for Mayo since first being elected in 2016. It has been an honour to represent my community, and I hope to continue as your elected Federal Member.
During my time in Mayo I have been able to secure more than $500 million in funding for various projects, such a health facilities, infrastructure and community priorities. Many Milang residents will know I assisted to secure grants for restoration of the historic Milang Lakeside Butter Factory.
I’ve secured funding for major initiatives including the upgrade to the Southern Fleurieu Health Service Emergency Department in Victor Harbor, upgrades to Victor Harbor Road, South Road duplication and upgrades and funding for the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth Research Centre.
As we approach the election, I am focussed on the issues that matter most to families in Mayo, including genuine cost of living measures, better health outcomes for regional Australians and improved social and transit infrastructure funding.
If I am re-elected, I will be advocating for funding for projects that help improve the lives of people in Mayo.
These include a Palliative Care Clinic at Victor Harbor, full funding for the Coorong Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth Research Centre, a Centre for Dairy Excellence near Myponga, federal drought relief for local primary producers and improved regional telecommunications.
Since first being elected, I have advocated for aged care reform, climate action, political donation reform, gambling reform and integrity and accountability in politics. In relation to the environment, I will continue to be a strong advocate for biodiversity, species loss and reducing plastic pollution. I support national standards for environmental diversity protections.
I believe if I am returned to Federal Parliament, I can continue to make a positive difference for the people of Mayo. I enjoy talking with local families, businesses, farmers and community groups to ensure their voice is heard at a national level.
In the event of a hung parliament, I will speak to both leaders, in good faith, to secure the best outcomes for Mayo, South Australia and the rest of the country. I will assess each piece of legislation, as I have always done, on its merits.
By not being part of a major party, I can vote in the best interests of the people of Mayo. We have a really special community, and I want to continue Making Mayo Matter.
