Monthly Outing Report
Hi fellow gardeners
March 12th saw the Milang Cottage Garden Group set off on the first trip of the year, what started off as a cool day soon warmed up as five members and a visitor from Canberra left the Institute with an interesting box on board.
First stop was the Jungle at Willunga where there was a bargain table which was of great interest as was a large flat bowl another bird bath for Margaret’s feathered friends. Then on two Broadly Green where a few more plants were added not really the weather for buying plants as it was getting a little warmer.
The next stop should have been a new nursery at Aldinga but after a fruitless trip around and around through road works etc we decided to go to McLaren Vale. Here we had lunch under a shady tree then went to our favourite Mitre 10, where several objects were purchased including some grout by our visitor who intended to repair the grout in her parent’s bathroom.
As the weather was now decidedly hot it was decided to head for home via Finniss General Store for coffee or tea and the contents of the box was revealed to be a selection of cupcakes form the Milang Bakery decorated in honour of Jeff’s 90th birthday which was the following day.
We sang happy birthday and shared the cakes and drew the raffle which was won by the birthday boy.
The next trip will be to Tupelo at Mylor then State Flora at Belair, followed by Native Nursery at Coromandel Valley. There will be spare seats available so please ring Anne 85370453 if you would like to go on the trip. The trip leaves the Institute at 9.00am returning approx. 3.30pm, you will need the fare for the bus $15, your lunch and a drink plus a small item for the raffle box.
Good gardening and hope we get some good rain soon everyone else seems to be getting it so it has to be our turn next.
