MILANG CFS NEWS

Fortunately, callouts for the Milang CFS Brigade have been fairly quiet over past weeks. However, CFS volunteers attended Watson Park Road, to cut up and remove a tree that was blocking the road.
Then, on the 16th of October, Milang CFS responded to a serious road accident on the Milang Road where a car had rolled and trapped the sole occupant. CFS crews from Milang, Langhorne Creek and Strathalbyn, along with SAAS and SES, worked together to cut free the occupant. He was then airlifted by the MEDSTAR Rescue Helicopter from the scene.
As summer approaches, Milang Brigade has been polishing up on their fire season skill sets. The group bulk water carrier visited for a week, so all the heavy rigid drivers could refresh themselves with hands-on experience. Volunteers also attended group training at Langhorne Creek, participating in various exercises with multiple other brigades. Soon, Milang Brigade will undertake compulsory burn-over training, which every member must complete each year before the fire season.
We encourage people to be mindful when doing any burning, as things have dried out rapidly in the last few weeks. Now is the time to complete clearing of flammable materials around homes and properties and to revisit and discuss your bushfire survival plan.
