BUTTER FACTORY REPORT – October 2024

October has been a month of firsts for the Butter Factory.

Our first wedding and our first birthday party not to mention a very busy long weekend. On the long weekend we had live music on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Saturday we had the duo Sonic Fusion playing pop and rock tunes from the eighties and nineties, by the end of the afternoon they had a few up dancing which was good to see. On Sunday, Zara Chantelle, a young lady of seventeen played some original songs along with her unique arrangement of popular cover songs

The first working bee of the month we concentrated on getting the place up to scratch for the wedding. One job was to remove the ugly orange safety barrier and replace it with some unused fencing that was removed when the MOSHCC upgraded for the school kids.

Our first wedding was for Asha Whitam and her fiancé Garth.
The main room was decorated tastefully with seating for the forty guests. Asha being one of our volunteers was delighted to be able to use the Butter Factory for her ceremony with drinks supplied by Kanoetree Wines. The reception was held later at the Pier Hotel. The wedding went off without a hitch. We wish the happy couple all the best for the future. The Butter Factory would like to thank Cathy and Greg Saltmarsh for donating slip-on chair covers, they dressed up what are functional plastic chairs to look the part in something as special as a wedding.

Another first was the 88th birthday party for Willie Hausler. Held on a Wednesday afternoon for thirty guests and catered for by the Butter Factory Kitchen. A three course meal featuring hors d’oeuvres on arrival, a main course of roast beef or turkey and sweets.

Wines supplied by Kanoetree Wines. Two long tables decorated with native foliage looked very inviting as the guests arrived.
The order of service was a first for the kitchen crew as they used our bain-marie for the first time, setting it up in the back pergola with a four person assembly line the roast dinner was served very efficiently and was enjoyed by all.

During the month a new line of small metal art pieces were sourced and displayed. John from RPC Cutters of Tailem Bend fabricates a huge range of garden sculptures in mild steel and aluminium. These were displayed in bales of straw, making use of Claudes little trailer to be a portable display, they are selling well and make an ideal Christmas gift for the gardener in your family.

On our last working bee for the month we installed some spot lighting over the gallery wall giving it a more professional touch.

That’s all for this month, looking forward to a busy run up to Christmas.

Cheers
John Bradford.
