The Butter Factory is happy to welcome David and Sue Haeusler from Kanotree Wines, they will be operating their cellar door for tastings and sales on weekends from 11am till 4pm. Their official opening will be on the Cellar Treasures weekend of the 9th., 10th. 11th.of August.
With the onset of the winter months it’s a little unpredictable as to how many visitors we will be seeing to the now open on weekends cafe, the Factory with the just opened Kanoetree Wines cellar door and of course Already Read Books.
One of the challenges we face is providing a warm space for guests to the Factory. The volunteers have been working on the cellar windows, we had two broken ones and one missing altogether out of the four. We needed to be able to open and close them to stop the draft when needed. Now the nearly completed old section can be kept quite comfortable with the fan heaters and keeping the doors closed. This space has been well used on the really cold days recently.
Its great to see native plantings doing so well with the rain. Around the back under the pepper tree has been covered with mulch and will be developed as an area for kids games and seating. The next couple of working bees will be dedicated to preparing for the Cellar Treasures weekend as well as the Fleurieu Food Festival Winter Spectacular dinner, an exciting event on the 10th of August, more information in this publication.
During the month we were happy to receive the donation of an Alfa Laval motorised separator from Grants brother in law Geoff Schiller, this separator when tidied up will make an operational display in the museum. We had another Alfa Laval hand driven separator donated by Milton and Carol Block from Kindaruar a couple of months ago, its now in pride of place in front of the stage. Thank you to those families for their kind gifts.
