Around 15 residents gathered to protect the Norfolk Island Pine that remains this morning. The team came to cut the tree down around 8am but couldn’t get through us, stating they would stand down until the DEW has had formal consultation with the community. Phew! They have my number and will be in contact.
The Sun newspaper was there and we chatted live with Radio 5MU who have been a great support through this short but passionate journey.
I would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who came to protect our tree and a special mention to Katie Gibbons-Whittam for sleeping at the base of the tree! Now that’s commitment.
You are all amazing! Your passion and concern for these trees was a sight to behold! Thank you!
