at the Milang Oval Grounds
is open every Sunday afternoon
from 1:00—4:00pm.
We are open for groups on other days, by appointment.
The Historical Society has been making steady progress with the setting up of our new exhibits. Our volunteers had to move everything out, section by section, for new concrete floors and for the lining of walls in the museum.
It has been a big job, but we are pleased to say we are open again to the public and getting good feedback from visitors.
Please come and have a look at our new displays. Entry is by gold coin donation.

“LOOKING BACK”
The accompanying public notice from the then District Council of Strathalbyn shows the list of fire control officers appointed by Council in 1979 under the Bushfires Act.
At that time the four local country fire service brigades, Strathalbyn,Woodchester, Milang and Langhorne Creek were under council control.
The brigade officers were automatically appointed fire control officers as well as many residents across the council area, the idea being that when required an officer could promptly be on scene and take control.
There was an annual meeting held at Strathalbyn, the subject being the powers and duties of fire control officers who were issued with a leather arm band to wear when on duty.
